If new Ford SUV models have been on your mind for your next family car, we can help you find the right one!

Ford Edge

The 2020 Ford Edge is known as a mid-size SUV that seats up to five people, including the driver. It has a 250-horsepower (hp), Turbocharged 2.0-Liter four-cylinder engine, or the option for another that offers 335-hp. That power comes from a Twin-Turbo 2.7-Liter V-6 motor that is standard in the performance-oriented ST trim level. Both the engine pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front- and all-wheel-drive models are offered. Because this is only a mid-size vehicle, it has less space than the other Ford SUV models we are going to talk about. It’s still spacious enough for adult passengers to be comfortable.

Ford Escape

The Ford Escape now has an option for Hybrid driving abilities that combines a non-turbocharged 2.5-Liter four-cylinder along with two electric motors. The electric motors pull juice from a 1.1-Kilowatt-Hour battery underneath the floor of this Ford SUV. If you are curious about the power this offers you as a driver; you will be happy to know that it gives you 200 hp total. Power from the engines comes with a minimal amount of delay when you press the accelerator. For you, it makes the SUV feel reasonably punchy at full bore. One concern future hybrid owners have is about the transitions between the engine and electric power. From this Ford SUV, they are seldom noticeable.

Ford Explorer

We want to bring up one last Ford SUV for you to consider before you make an appointment at Sarasota Ford. The 2020 Ford Explorer has been on the relieving end of a full redesign! Its makeover was extensive and shows differences on the inside and outside. The most significant change was to the platform and frame of this model. It also has serious technology upgrades for drivers and passengers to take advantage of with the two new specialized trim levels. Those two trims have widened the model’s scope more than ever before! Another big change for this Ford SUV is a switch to a Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) platform. The older models rode on Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) architecture that can inhibit better performance from this SUV. Even when this is equipped with the All-Wheel-Drive platform, the foundational layout influences how it handles in a positive way. In our new 2020 3-Row SUV Challenge, the Ford Explorer was the only participant with a RWD platform, and that helped the handling stand out to drivers. Its other driving-related scores, the powertrain and braking categories, were also superb. Come see for yourself at Sarasota Ford!
